About this item: Inspired by the colonial artistic traditions of the “Cuzco School”, artisan Gliseria Soto crafts a memorable wall mirror. The mirror is carved by hand from cedar wood to resemble a sun with a multitude of rays. Bronze leaf is applied to create a soft, vintage glow.

About our Artist: Peruvian artisan Gliseria Soto says, ‘Ever since I was a girl, I had to work hard to help my family. I always enjoyed drawing even though fate took me down a different path. While those days were complicated, I worked in all kinds of jobs to get ahead. I’m hardworking, persistent and creative and, somehow, I always knew that I’d be able to achieve my dreams. My children help me craft mirrors and have become skilled at painting and carving the wood. I love my work because it’s a constant challenge from the moment the idea is born. We find inspiration in nature. Peru’s history, culture and traditions also inspire us. There are many so possibilities and it’s exciting to express them through our art.’…
